Alternative Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients:
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup water
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup sake or mirin
1/3 cup brown sugar
1-inch piece of ginger, chopped, or 1 teaspoon dried ginger
1 T lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
freshly ground black pepper

Preparing the teriyaki sauce:
Bring to a boil and simmer covered for 15 minutes. Strain. If desired, thicken the sauce with a slurry of cornstarch.
